Hunza Walnut Kilaw is a traditional mountain delicacy from Hunza, Gilgit-Baltistan, prepared using an ancient local method. Fresh walnut kernels are first carefully selected and then dipped in thick, boiled grape and mulberry juice. This creates a natural, sweet coating around each kernel. After dipping, the coated walnuts are left to dry naturally in the sun and clean mountain air until the outer layer sets and the flavor becomes rich and concentrated.
This slow drying process gives Hunza Walnut Kilaw its unique chewy texture, deep fruity sweetness, and long shelf life without any artificial preservatives. It is especially popular as a high-energy winter food and a healthy natural sweet
